Through the Mills Act, qualified owners may reduce their property taxes and use the savings to offset costs associated with the rehabilitation, restoration, and maintenance of their property. The deadline to apply for this year’s Mills Act application is May 1, 2019.

Attend this free workshop where commissioners from the Historic Preservation Commission and Planning staff will help answer questions about the Mills Act, including:

  • application requirements
  • property eligibility
  • qualified rehabilitation projects
  • developing a maintenance plan, and 
  • terms of the contract

Your property may be eligible for the Mills Act if it is designated as an Article 10 or 11 local landmark, or is listed on the California or National Registers of Historic Resources. It may also be eligible if it is a contributing building to the proposed Article 10 Rousseaus’ Boulevard Tract Historic District.
