ABOUT

Chinatown was the port of entry for early Hoisanese and Zhongshanese Chinese immigrants from the Guangdong province of southern China from the 1850s to the 1900’s. Today, the 24-square-block district bounded roughly by Broadway, Kearny, Powell and Bush streets is considered the largest of its kind outside of Asia, the oldest in North America, and the most densely populated urban area west of Manhattan.
