ABOUT

Prior to 1887, the Inner Sunset was not much more than sand dunes. While the origin of the name is unconfirmed, it’s rumored that developer Aurelius E. Buckingham built a cluster of homes around what is now Lincoln Way and 5th Avenue and declared his suburb as the "Sunset District," despite being just three miles from the Pacific Ocean and in the middle of the fog zone.  Bordering Golden Gate Park and home to UCSF, foggy Inner Sunset hosts a variety of local businesses, restaurants, breweries, book stores, and bakeries gathered around the intersection of 9th Avenue and Irving Street.
