A small residential neighborhood on the southern edge of San Francisco, Outer Mission was first developed around the 1910s as an extension of the Mission District. Before it was developed, the area largely consisted of farms, providing the City with Swiss chard and potatoes. Today, Outer Mission is known for its family friendly amenities, colorful homes, sunny streets, and local markets.
