ABOUT

Bordering the western part of Golden Gate Park to the north, the Outer Sunset was a vast, sparsely inhabited area or large sand dunes and coastal land known as the “Outside Lands.” Residential development mainly occurred in 1925–1950 by a handful of large-scale merchant builders who constructed thousands of houses on vacant sand dunes, as well as dozens of smaller builders who constructed a few blocks or scattered in-fill.
