California Senate Bill SB423 Amends and Extends the Provisions of SB35
In January 2018, the San Francisco Planning Department Implemented California Senate Bill 35 (SB35) in accordance with State law for Projects with more than 50% of the total units dedicated to affordable housing. In the 2023 legislative session, SB 423 amended and extended the provisions of SB35.
Starting in early 2024, the San Francisco Planning Department will process applications in accordance with SB 423. Many projects will now qualify for streamlined ministerial approval under SB 423. Please read the following publications for more information.
