Short-Term Rentals - Complaint Form

To ensure compliance with short-term residential rentals as outlined in San Francisco's Short-Term Rental Ordinance (Chapter 41A of the San Francisco Administrative Code), the Office of Short-Term Rentals (OSTR) is responsible for the oversight of short-term rental activity and registration of certified hosts. This complaint form can be used to help OSTR determine if there are any potential issues of non-compliance.

Some examples of non-compliance can include:

  • a host is operating short-term rentals without an approval from OSTR, and/or the host does not appear to live on-site (in the same residential unit)
  • a host appears to live on-site but is renting a separate legal residential unit (or Accessory Dwelling Unit) at the same property
  • the use of sheds, tents, garages, recreational vehicles (RVs), and non-residential properties for short-term rental

Refer to the form for more examples and details.
