Japantown Special Area Design Guidelines

These Guidelines were developed in order to encourage culturally relevant architecture in new building and site designs, and in renovations and additions to older buildings and sites, in support of a physically beautiful and socially vibrant neighborhood. They are intended to help convey the concepts that support and express the unique aesthetic and spatial qualities of Japantown.

The cover of the Japantown Special Area Design Guidelines. The layout features a collage of four images: the historic Peace Pagoda, a group of people in traditional Japanese attire performing a street dance, a traditional wooden gateway (Torii), and a modern storefront in Japantown. The word "JAPANTOWN" is written in large red letters at the top left.
