Modification of an Approved Project Request Form (MOD)

In limited instances, for previously approved projects, a Project Sponsor may submit a request for Modification to an Approved Project Request instead of a new application provided certain criteria are met. An approved project is one that has been approved by the Planning Commission or Department, and/or, the Project Sponsor has an issued Planning Approval Letter. This does not apply to active projects seeking to change the scope midway through the development review process.

All state-mandated review timelines are re-started at the submittal of this Modification to Previously Approved Project Request Form. Planning staff will review the application for completeness within 30 days of submittal.

Types of Project Modifications

The following project scopes may submit a request for Modification of an Approved Project.

These projects include modifications to an approved project that do not include any physical changes. This request form will retain the same Project Record number as the previously approved version of the project. The following changes do not require the submittal of a new Project Application (PRJ).

  • Inclusionary Reduction Requests (that involve only non-physical changes)
  • Change in tenure (ownership to rental or rental to ownership)
  • Modification of the elected method of compliance for the Inclusionary Housing Program (on-site to fee)
  • Extension of performance standards only
  • Modification of previously conditioned hours of operation
  • Variance for a project where the authorization is void and cancelled (not vested)

Any modifications to previously approved projects that exceed the above scopes must submit a new Project Application (PRJ).
